[International i Journal = Yeu Uibong, Gyeongsangbuk-do, Journalist Ma Hyesung] The ‘2017 Gyeongsangbuk-do International Day’ was held at the Gyeongsangbuk-do Provincial Government Building and its neighboring area for 2 days from May 28 to May 29 to share the local diplomatic achievements of Gyeongsangbuk-do.

At the opening ceremony on the 28th, did about 1,000 people attend including Governor Kim Kwan-yong, international delegations from 5 countries including the Chinese Consul General in Busan in China, multicultural families, local students, local residents, juveniles from sisterhood friendship cities, and performance groups to enjoy this meaningful event.

This event was held to commemorate D-100 of 'Ho Chi Minh - Gyeongju World Culture Expo 2017' and to strengthen exchanges with friendship cities of Gyeongsangbuk-do.

The first day of the event featured international performances from 7 regions of 4 countries including Russian Folk Songs & Dances, Chinese Magic Show, Hui Muslim’s Traditional Dances, Traditional Vietnamese Performances, and African Performances, followed by Gyeongbuk Golden Bell, Korean Language Speech Contest, and K-POP Contest performed by overseas students staying in Korea.

On the second day, May 29, ceremonial performances of multicultural families residing in Ulleung County, Yeongdeok County, Seongju County, and Andong City were put on the stage.

Governor Kim Kwan-yong said, "This event presented a new festival model because it was prepared by voluntary participation of local residents and friendship cities” and added, "By keeping holding various international exchange projects, we will seek to broaden the understanding among nations and boost the local economy."
