[IIJ = Gyeongbuk Reporter Ouibong Yeo, Joontae Bin] In Oenam-myeon, Sangju-si (Chief of Myeon, Joongrae Cho), 5th Sangju Oenam Valley Dried Persimmon Festival opened in the theme of ‘Be buzzy and exhilarated’ for 5 days from 23rd to 27th at Sangju Dried Persimmon Park

The opening of the festival started with the parade of the present to the king based on the Annals of King Yejong which was the record that offered dried persimmon to King Yejong in 1468. Under the 750-year of the first persimmon tree, villagers and visitors to the festival enjoyed the parade together holding flags with shouting ‘Be buzzy and exhilarated’ for joy to the special exhibit hall of Sangju Dried Persimmon Park. After that, it continued to re-enact the performance and parade of the present to King, and then this festival took place as a festival based on an entertainment for villagers.

Especially, 2 million won of prize money was to be given to the persimmon-peeling expert in persimmon-peeling competition. It was good opportunity for villagers to purchase products economically in Dried Persimmon material secondhand market

In addition, exhibition and experience events consist of Sangju Love Photo Competition, Villagers’ Works Exhibit, Traditional Dried Persimmon Making Event, and ‘Jaeru and Dami’s Experience Tour’ from National Nakdong Institute of Biological Resources which is precious chance to experience freshwater biological resources.
