[IIJ=Gyeongsangbuk-do Reporter, Jiyeong Nam] 18th of Bonghwa Ayu Festival in this year held in success from July 30th to August 6th for 8 days with the theme of “Cool~ Let’s play with Ayu in Bonghwa in midsummer” at sports park in Bonghwa-eup and Naeseong stream area.

With the opening ceremony, simultaneously, tourists were full at Naeseong stream to experience scoop net fishing activity to catch ayu, so it was a monotonous start to be successful festival.

At Ayu Hall, people can see 35 kinds of freshwater fish with ayu. Ayu Theme Park consists of Ayu Catching Activity, Butterfly and Firefly Experience, Trick Art Photo Zone, Pinwheel Park, and beautifully decorated ayu train, which can be applied into educational effect on children, then the festival attracts tourists’ many interest from the first day.

Many tourists visit Ayu Food Zone in Festival area to try ayu grown up from 1st level of freshwater of Bonghwa and can enjoy rare ayu in inexpensive price so they can buy roasted ayu, fried ayu, and ayu boiled down in seasonings in 18 thousands won which reduced 4000 won from 22 thousands won from last year.

Also, Festival site’s electric wire and water pipe are undergrounded to make safe and comfortable experience for tourists, and many facilities are improved such as renovated rest areas with floor grass, shading canopy installation and renovated flushing restroom, which got good remarks from tourists.

Nowook Park, Governor of Bonghwa-gun, said that Bonghwa Ayu Festival is the best festival in Korea, and he introduced this festival opened at Naeseong stream in fresh and clear Bonghwa is the best place ever for family and lovers to take rests in their summer vacations. Also, he said on this trends, 850 thousands of tourists would come Bonghwa in this festival period beyond last year’s 790 thousands of tourists and try best efforts on the festival for tourists’ convenience until the end of the festival.
